The Max to host outdoor concert

With the year and a half long lockdown finally ending, the Drayton Valley Max centre has something special planned for August to get people back in a social setting.

On August 22, from 1-5pm the Max centre is hosting a free outdoor concert at the Frank Maddock football field.

“What we really wanted to do is just do something fun and festive for the town of Drayton Valley,” says Eleni Schuurman who is the Max centre events coordinator.

The event is family friendly with no alcohol or drugs permitted. The event will kick off with a short performance from Drayton Valley local artists Broadway Revue, from there a band out of Edmonton called the Whiskey Boyz will take the stage.

“They are an extremely talented group of men and they have a huge diverse library of songs that they can perform,” says Schuurman. Between the Whiskey Boyz’ two sets there will also be a DJ on the scene to keep the music going.

The outdoor concert is not going to be only music though, local vendors will have stalls set up. There is still time for vendors to get involved as well. Those interested can reach out to the Max centre.

The event will also have a barbecue where hotdogs and hamburgers will be available for purchase. Cause for critters will also be there with kittens to pet and a 50/50 draw they will be hosting.

The Max Centre is not going to throw caution to the wind when it comes to Covid though. They encourage people to bring hand sanitizer and they are closely monitoring restrictions. “We will continue to monitor things and make sure that we are safe to go ahead, which we are pretty certain that we can but we don’t want anyone to worry about anything,” says Schuurman.
