Seeing the leaves disappearing reminds me that Halloween is fast approaching so that means it’s almost time for our Second Annual Pumpkin Walk. For those of you who missed last year’s event, let’s just say you missed a “gourd” time. Imagine walking a spooky, moonlit path, with a slight chill in the air, seeing assorted Jack O’ Lanterns glimmer on the trail’s edge. It was super fun!
This year our friends from Aim for Success are once again joining forces with the Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council in hosting this event at the beautiful Pembina Nordic Ski Trails (north of Drayton Valley on Highway 22, turning east on Township Road 494 for 6 kilometers). This free, family friendly outing will be held on Thursday, October 28th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Participants can choose to walk a short, six-hundred-meter trail, or if they are feeling like a longer stroll, can explore the easy two kilometer trail. Trails will be well marked and will allow for ample social distancing.
Once finished, participants can enjoy a delicious pumpkin donut. We are pleased to announce this event is being sponsored by the Town of Drayton Valley, Brazeau County, Gen 7 Environmental Solutions and Intercon Messaging Inc.
If businesses, organizations, families or individuals would like to donate carved pumpkins for the Pumpkin Walk they are welcome to drop their creations off at Drayton Valley Christian School (4762-50 Street), with Sue Reich from Aim for Success on the afternoon (12:30-4:00 PM) of Wednesday, October 27.
