So, I turned 25 again for the 16th year in a row and I thought, “Hey, since I’m 25, I should probably party like I’m 25.” Because that’s what all fabulous 40 ahem… 25-year-olds do, right?
This time around, I was wise enough to know I wanted to end the night in my own bed (no mysterious couches) and stay within walking distance of home. And with that in mind, the Downtown Drayton Valley Pub Crawl was born!
Can Drayton Valley be as fun at 40 as it was at 25?
Spoiler alert: Absolutely.
Drayton Valley’s nightlife has had its ups and downs, but right now, it’s thriving. With an amazing mix of breweries, bars, pubs, and even live entertainment, this town is serving up some serious summer fun. Whether you’re 25, 40, or older or younger, you can have an unforgettable night out with your girlfriends.
The rules of the crawl
Brandy’s Pub Crawl Rules:
- One hour max per stop – Keep the energy up!
- Keep moving – The night is young, and so are we (at heart).
- Bring a mix of friends – A good crew makes for great vibes.
- There’s no bad weather, just bad footwear – Summer means sandals, but maybe rethink those stilettos.
- End with a fun activity – Singing, dancing, or maybe some competitive Jenga.
- Phones down, memories up – No need for evidence the next morning.
The itinerary:
Planned around closing times to maximize fun.
Stop 1: 7:00 PM – The Nodding Donkey Brewery First stop: Craft beer and board games. Book a table because this place fills up fast! Not sure what to drink? Get a flight of samples. We kicked things off with a Jenga showdown – nothing like a little friendly competition to start the night.
Pro tip: Don’t lose track of time here. The first stop sets the tone, so pace yourselves!
Stop 2: 8:30 PM – Oil Country Tap House We were fashionably late (naturally) and ready to level up from beer to cocktails and shots. We also grabbed some appetizers because hydration and carbs are key to a successful night out. If there’s live music, this might be worth bumping down the list for a later stop.
Stop 3: 9:45 PM – Shot Stop at the Derrick Lounge A quick pit stop for some slot machine action, a team shot, and an attempt at the boxing game. We won $3 at the VLT (high rollers, clearly), then used our winnings to take a shot and see who could punch the hardest. Spoiler: It wasn’t me.
Stop 4: 10:30 PM – The Sports Lounge (Karaoke Time!) Summer nights and karaoke? Yes, please. The energy here was electric, thanks to a few talented regulars. We belted out Eminem’s Lose Yourself (poorly), but confidence is key, right?
Stop 5: 12:00 AM – Back to Derrick Lounge We were supposed to end the night at 10:30 PM, but someone (10 years younger than me) convinced us to rally. At midnight, Derrick Lounge was the place to be, and we weren’t about to miss out.
Other spots to consider:
- The Legion – Classic and cozy.
- The Local House – Another karaoke hotspot if you’re up for a sing-off.
- Sky Lounge at Westwinds – A solid final stop.
- Boston Pizza, Mitches, Mr. Mikes – Great mid-crawl options for food and drinks.
The verdict:
A summer pub crawl in Drayton Valley? Absolutely worth it. Grab your girls, make a plan, and get ready for an unforgettable night out. Just remember: keep moving, drink responsibly, and maybe warm up your vocal cords before karaoke.
Quick recap:
- Start early (7 PM) at a brewery with games.
- Switch to cocktails & shots (8:30 PM) – and grab some food!
- Hit up a lounge (9:45 PM) for a quick win (or loss) on the slots.
- Karaoke time (10:30 PM) – confidence required, talent optional.
- Final stop (midnight) – if you’re still standing, dance it out.
There you have it – your ultimate girls’ night out pub crawl. Let me know how your adventure goes!
